      It will make communicating with satellites like the ISS much faster and easier. It will also make powering and communicating with remote areas a lot cheaper, since you could use lasers to beam power to places instead of laying cables. In fact, it would even be possible to put satellites in orbit with solar panels on, and have them beam power back to Earth. That’s the dream

      Space Weather is a huge international threat and the long-term applications of work like mine in forecasting, should help mitigate consequences of large events which may have consequences to life.
